dictated by Napoleon Bonaparte at Meneval, to the Duc de Feltre,
concerning Corfu - "to write with the utmost vigour to the King of
Naples to urge him to continue the supplies to Corfu. Inform him
that I will hold him responsible if Corfu would be short the
slightest commodity and that the possession of that island is more
important to him than to France, and that I will not accept that
where I have stationed 30'000 troops. 10'000 would be at risk to
die from hunger and my army would be dishonoured...". French
