1967: 'Independent Anguilla' A complete set of overprints on stamps
of St. Kitts-Nevisforms from ½ c. to $5. The set includes
duplicates of the ½ c., 3 c., and 4 c. stamps, and an additional
pair of the 25 c. stamp. Notably scarce, the $5 stamp is signed.
The entire set comes with a certificate by David Brandon (2006),
valued at over £4250 SG. These stamps were issued after Anguilla’s
unilateral declaration of independence from St. Kitts and Nevis in
1967, fueled by political tensions and dissatisfaction with
governance. Though not formally recognized as a separate British
Overseas Territory until 1980, these stamps symbolize the island’s
push for independence and were issued during this transitional
period. Their absence from the stamp trade renders existing
examples exceedingly rare
