Davos, franked with 1887-91 3 a. green & blue, tied by Bangkok
c.d.s., endorsed "via Singapore", reverse with Gravenhage arrival
c.d.s. (28 Dec), struck the following day on front with same cds
upon despatch to Switzerland, with Davos arrival backstamp (31
Dec), ornate violet sender's handstamp on flap ("Aut via inveniam,
aut faciam"), a superb and scarce single franking. Note: The
addressee, Epimachus Jacobus Johannes Baptista (Eppo) Cremers,
served as Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands from 1864
to 1866, and later as Speaker of the House of Representatives from
1884 to 1888. He died in Zurich in October, 1896
