1867 5 soldi Type IV directed to Bruges, Belgium, bearing an
additional franking with pair and single of 1867 Coarse Whiskers 2
so yellow, adhesives and imprinted stamp cancelled by clear
“BEIRUTH 27 / 7 82” cds (Tranmer fig. G) in black, reverse with
oval ALEXANDRIEN transit cds in black and BRUGES arrival cds (Aug
8) in bluish black. An extremely rare usage of a stationery
envelope to an unexpectedly rare destination, an exceptional
franking for the UPU rate, overpaying it by one soldo, an
attractive cover Ferchenbauer unrecorded. Note: The Fine whiskers 2
soldi have not been used in Beirut before September 1882
