figures, a fine example with staining around the edge of the
margins when adhered to the 19 January 1857 entire letter from
Rafael Rodriguez in Durazno to Francisco Corta in Montevideo,
endorsed "con un fardito" (with a package). The stamp with
manuscript cancellation "Claudio el orio" (?) in a very deep indigo
shade showing the "Cracked Plate" variety with crack running from
NE corner to the edge of the vignette and large break in the
frameline below "S" of CENTAVOS (Lee Type 20). Edge wear to the
entire but a great rarity. Unrecorded in the R.A. Siegel / Walter
Britz census of 37 covers. Signed E.J. Lee Scott = $ 6'500.
