1899: Essay for the Large Camel type postal card. This primitive
artist's essay in ink, produced on Star and Crescent Moon
watermarked paper, is undated, although endorsed "3" and
initialled. A stamp box in the height of the Large Camel type stamp
has been indicated and the text elements are found on the issued
card. The first Large Camel type postal cards were invoiced by De
La Rue in 1899, so this drawing would precede that date. Some
soiling and pin holes, which do not detract from the charm of the
essay. A unique exhibition piece
