with 1902/21 5 m. scarlet & black, sent from Khartoum to
Washington, USA, dated 20 May 1916, tied by "KHARTOUM" single
circle datestamp in black, with triangular "PASSED BY CENSOR SUDAN
/ 8" in violet alongside. Endorsed "C.H. Stigand, attd. Egyptian
Army". Opening tear top which extends into the stamp impression. A
scarce example. Only 420 were printed. Note: These envelopes derive
from a special order for Captain C. H. Stigand and were not
generally available
