British Protectorate 1815-1864 1859 (July 13): Entire letter from
Corfu to Palermo via Malta, struck on despatch with fair strike of
"♚ / PAID AT CORFU" in blue with manuscript rate "4+3 = 7" (pence)
alongside in red ink. Great Britain 1 d. red stars in a horizontal
strip of three and 1855-57 4 d. pale carmine applied and tied by
"MALTA / A25" duplexes in transit (July 21) with Palermo arrival
cds (July 27) alongside. Some sensible restoration with hinges
along file folds but an extraordinary cover of great scarcity.
