mounted upon 13 album pages, presenting an illustrated study of
postmarks on early Colombian stamps used in Colon and Panama.
Comprises singles, bisects, multiples and a block of four, with
some rare usages and cancellations. Includes examples from the
Colombian first issue 1859/60 through to 1886 Republic of Colombia.
Noted postmarks included; red oval 'Colon', the ornate undated
diamond 'Colon' cancel in blue (2) and in green (1), several
different types of 'Panama' oval and boxed rectangular, manuscript
'Panama', registered, 'Panama / Franco' oval, 'Panama / de Oficio',
'David' unboxed straight line, 'Hacienda', 'Santiago' and the
Panama Postal Agency cds. Additionally, two fragments, one franked
with a mixed franking of a Colombia Late Fee 1892 'Retardo' 2½ c.
dark blue & rose and a bisect Map of Panama 1892 10 c. orange. Some
faults and imperfections although a number of fine and eye catching
