Plate, State A, positions 41 / 47, used on reverse of 16 February
1848 single rate entire letter from Barra Mansa to Rio de Janeiro,
the stamps of excellent rich colour and with large margins all
round but re-backed to the entire, tied by framed "BARRA / MANÇA"
handstamp in brown (Ayres fig. 1230), the cancellation retouched.
Nevertheless an exceptional and extremely rare usage, the sole
recorded Bulls Eye cover from this town. Illustrated if incorrectly
described in Bernd Juchert "Bull's Eyes on Covers" on page 295 and
illustrated in "Carimbos sobra os olhos-de-boi" by H. Bunselmeyer
