"Unshaded Hill" variety, a fine example of good colour with good to
large margins all round and showing marginal line complete at top
and at left, used on 1851 O.H.M.S. cover from the Colonial
Secretary's Office to Raymond Terrace, tied by barred obliterator
in black with manuscript date "25 January 1851" at base. Reverse
with circular "SYDNEY / ♚ / NEW SOUTH WALES" despatch datestamp
(Jan 27) and oval "RAYMOND TERRACE / ♚ / NEW S. WALES" arrival (Jan
28) in black. The second earliest usage of the 2 d. Plate IV in the
Palmer cover census (#53). Most attractive and scarce. Provenance:
