Algeria Military Pigeon Mail 1906: Pigeon Mail experimental message, on flimsy paper, sent 27 April 1906, from Ghardaia to Djelfa, via Laghouat, a distance of 300 km., using four pigeons. The message is struck with a three line cachet 'DIRECTION / DES / AFFAIRS INDIGENES' and alongside a partial circular Ghardaia Unit Commander handstamp, both in blue. Handwritten notes to message indicating the timing of the pigeons departing in the morning and then seen over Laghouat, before arriving at Djelfa at noon. Rare. Cert. Sorani (1988). Ex.
