1914/16: Cameroon Expeditionary Force: The Bob Maddocks collection of covers and cards, comprising over 150 items contained within two albums. A study of postal arrangements of the Anglo-French Cameroon Expeditionary forces, thoughtfully arranged chronologically and written-up by hand and with some typed descriptions. Includes numerous rare marks, several historical pieces, important items and unique covers. Noted: 1914 hand drawn card depicting Native & British hoisting Union Jack and map of Africa highlighting Togo, German South West Africa, Cameroons drawn by a member of the royal Engineers. Also two covers dated 1914 from Capitain F Giles Chief Engineers and director of signals, both addressed to Wales, one bearing George Nigeria 1 d. tied by Lagos cds. An 'On Active Service' with Lagos cds and violet cachet "Southern Provinces Post and Telegraphs". Another 'On Active Service' envelope re-addressed to London, used on the First Day of Operations of C.E.F. File Post Office of Duala, with enclosed captured stamps. Two 1914 covers one to Gambia, another to Scotland. both bearing the rare "EXPEDITIONARY FORCE/DUALA" cds. Postcards with multiple strike of captured "KAISERLICHES GOUVERNEMENT/(arms))/BUEA" seal (Commander A. Hughes). Also two cards with multiple strikes of German "DUALA" cds. cards with multiple strikes of the German "DUALA" cds and "EXPEDITIONARY FORCE/DUALA", A rare 1915 envelope from Duala to Shantung, China and scarce 1915 inter-Cameroon envelope from Duala to Nlohe among many other noteworthy covers.
