1902: Arms, 1 penny carmine, die II, chalk-surfaced paper, bottom marginal, in combination with USA Philippines postage due 1899, 1 cents and 5 cents deep claret overprinted PHILIPPINES in black, all of good colour, the US rich colour, perforations fine, the former tied by upright oval duplex “55 NEWCASTLE N.S.W. 02" (cds covered by dues), the latter by violet cork cancel to an envelope sent to a ship in Newcastle Harbour, NSW, redirected to Manila, Philippines, with “Postage due six cents” violet handstamp alongside.
