1849 (July 28): 20c blue Épaulette, good margins all around, tied to cover to Ruremonde (Roermond) by "24" barred numeral, further struck with Brussels cds in blue, "N" notation adjacent stamp denoting adhesive disallowed as its usage contravened the Belgian-Dutch Postal Convention, manuscript "35" tax mark in black, red cds arrival backstamp, a fine franking and rare usage, being only one of two recorded examples of an Épaulette franking being disallowed on a cross-border cover to Holland prior to the revised 1852 treaty; with 1999 Van der Linden certificate.
